Requiem for Radio: New Dead Zones, is an interactive installation by Amanda Dawn Christie (Moncton, NB) enabling the public to play the ghosts of radio towers with radio waves. Architecture, technology, history, and the human body come together in this near-supernatural conjuring of the spirits of the Radio Canada International (RCI) shortwave towers. The installation will consist of 13 handmade Theremins located throughout the Sands at Salter area of the Halifax Waterfront, a site approved by the Waterfront Development Corporation. The production of this new work is made possible with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and Arts NB.
