DIY Filmmaking Workshop

  • Holland College - Charlottetown Campus Photo department 140 Weymouth Street Charlottetown, PE, C1A 4Z1 Canada (map)

The Island Media Arts Co-op welcomes Amanda Dawn Christie as this summer’s artist in residence from August 1 to 28. She will be creating a new 16mm film installation that will be exhibited at Art in the Open on August 27. Amanda will give a free DIY filmmaking workshop August 13 and 14.

This free workshop includes 100 feet of 16mm film and the chemistry to process it in!  The workshop will cover loading and operating the bolex camera and processing 16mm film in the darkroom.  Each participant will shoot and process their own film, and all films will be transferred to digital so that participants can later work with their footage on a computer.

This workshop is sponsored by the Island Media Arts Co-op and access to the darkrooms is graciously provided by Holland College.  Equipment, film, and chemistry for this workshop was graciously provided by Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre and the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto.
